March 2009
We took Illy to an outdoor off leash facility on Saturday that we found through MeetUp. The place was really cool, lots of land, totally fenced in, part of it was forest, part was open (with a lure for the dogs to chase) and there was an agility area too.
Illy sniffed a few dogs and then took off into the woods. She trotted all over, completely ignoring us. When she did see us she would take off. Frustrating, to say the least! We caught up to her a few times, and took her into the agility area for a little bit. She didn’t really care for that, and spent most of the time sniffing around, and avoiding us.
Sigh.
She will never be an off leash dog, that’s for sure. I’m thinking of trying an electronic collar (using only the lowest setting of course, that feels like a cell phone vibration) and seeing if that helps her remember to acknowledge us.
The great outdoors are just too much of a temptation for her, I guess. She loves her freedom!

Last Saturday I threw a surprise baby shower for our dear friends Kelly and Pat. Well, it was a surprise for Kelly, at least. Pat was my co-conspirator, along with some of Kelly’s other close friends. I did get a lot of party planning help from many of my other friends, so thanks to them for helping out as well
The theme of the shower was Green, as in eco-friendly, so I was more than pleased to see Kelly show up in a green shirt! Here she is wondering why I have a video camera pointed at her as she walked upstairs.

Surprise!

Kelly’s friends were awesome and we had a great time hanging out before she and Pat showed up. Kara was quickly put in charge of decorating the cake after Michele and I declared our ineptness in that department. I’m glad I don’t have a picture of the onesie I ‘painted’ as evidence of such.

In keeping with the theme, we had baby clothes as decorations instead of streamers and balloons. Aaron’s contribution was pinning the shoes to the outfit.

It was a party for Misty too! Here are the happy couple.

The glowing Mama.

It was a really fun party to plan (although the two month long wait for the day to arrive was agonzing!) and we had an awesome time. The weather even turned in our favor, so we were able to grill up some habanero burgers. I hope Kelly had as much fun as we did!
Congratulations, guys! We can’t wait to meet Baby B!
