Mmmm bbq pig!

We had perfect timing today. We got to the wine festival early, right when it opened. We got in fast and there were no lines at any of the tents. Sweet. I made my purchases so they’d be ready for pickup when we were heading out. We wandered around for a while, and the weather was great. Sunny and bright, but yet a nice breeze blew by every now and then.

Aaron got his thai chicken stick and I had some pork bbq. Some roofing and window guys took this picture of us, but we didn’t sign up for a free estimate – sorry guys. They were funny, though.

We didn’t run into anyone we knew, and we started to get hot so we headed out. As soon as I had picked up my two boxes of wine from the pick up tent, it started to rain. I got in the truck right as it started to downpour, and we drove home through the storm.

Perfect timing all around!

Deck 003, originally uploaded by MissRancher.

We have a new deck! It took the guy we hired just two days to rip out our old deck and put in the new one. By himself! It’s a good job, too. The last thing he has to do is replace the stairs, and then seal it. I’m in awe that he did it so quickly, and in such hot weather!

After all his hard work, I guess he deserves a FEW new toys….yes, that’s a wheel and foot pedals. Sigh.

We’re having our deck redone since it’s in such poor condition. Yesterday the guy removed the railings and stair handrails and dropped off the new lumber.

Illy is loving being able to survey her domain without those pesky rails in the way!

The transformation is complete! I’ve been busy these past few days trying to get all of my sites up and running on the new host.

On this blog, I’ve fixed the poem pages so those work again, finally.

Our old photo blog ran out of hard drive space, so I converted that site into a homepage for us. It was really an exercise in learning Ruby on Rails, which is what I wrote it in, but I kind of like how it’s turned out. I have a lot more content planned which I’ll add when I get some free time, so keep checking back. But you can now link to our new photo site from there.

Also, Aaron has moved his blog to the new site.

So anyway, I hope I didn’t lose any readers. The feed url stayed the same so I think everything went pretty seamlessly! My feed reader is picking up the new posts so I trust everyone’s is. And if not…well, we’ll see if you miss me!

Nothing says “badass” like a glass of …. blush?

I am switching hosting providers, so my blog will be going dark for a few days (or so).

If you come here via a browser, you’ll notice when I’m back if you check periodically. But if you use a blog reader, I’m not sure what will happen. You may have to remove this feed from your reader and then re-add me once I’m live again, but it might just start working again.

If you want, I can email you when the site is back up. Leave me a comment and let me know if you would like notification!

See you on the flip side!

We broke the summer in right this weekend with a Memorial Day BBQ with Austin and Kelly. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and I managed to pick up just a bit of sun. Luckily Aaron made us go inside before I got too pink.

We always have such a blast with A&K. They have gone through some pretty rough times recently, and yet they remain so upbeat and fun to hang out with – it’s inspiring. It’s impossible not to have a good time with those two. We managed to eat a lot, drink a lot, watch a Jet Li movie, play Grand Theft Auto, bake brownies, drink more, and laugh non-stop. And Austin and I didn’t even talk about work too much.

An all around great day!

I decided to try and play around with Lightroom a little bit. I’m not really ‘into’ the photography thing, but I wanted to play around a little bit.

Aaron took this photo:

I just applied a preset modification to it:

Pretty nice, eh? Then I tried High Contrast B&W:

I am a sucker for Black and White!
