Meet Illy, our new foster dog! And we might just end up keeping her!

Aaron picked her up today and when I texted him to ask how she was, he said, ‘She’s beautiful.’ And she is! Although she had an encounter with a skunk a few days ago, and she still smells like it a bit. So we gave her a bath which helped. She’s been getting along very well – completely ignores the cats, which is great.

The upgrade went smoothly.

Carry on.

I’m going to start my upgrade…if you don’t see a Successful Upgrade post in the next few hours, or by tomorrow…the feed may be corrupted (or something terrible has happened – send help!).

I will be attempting a WordPress upgrade at some point in the very near future. So if you don’t see any new posts from me, delete my blog from your blog reader and re-add me – sometimes the feed url changes, in which case, you’ll lose me. I think I lost some readers from the last upgrade, who just thought I stopped posting. Oops. If you just bookmark the site, you should be fine.

I wanted to say Hi to all my readers in Australia! I think it’s actually just one reader, who is in fact a relative, but in case there are more, Hello! And I hope your studies are going well, and whatnot and soforth.

Lastly, I’ve noticed a bunch of searches of my maiden name are coming in – not sure what that’s all about. But here I am…what’s up?

It’s amazing how much replacing our coffee table made this house feel so much more like home. I can’t get over how much nicer it feels now.

We also replaced three of our bookshelves that were in the living room with a dvd cabinet, which also helps a lot – less clutter, less furniture. But I am so much more in love with the coffee table.

Even Aaron said yesterday that all the changes I made to everything have really made a huge difference.  I guess I won’t actually mind staying here for another year as much as I thought I would, if it turns out we can’t move this summer as originally planned.

Busy, busy busy.

Between weddings, work, traveling, illness, and whatever else, it seems like everyone is busy these days. No time to talk, no time to write, definitely no time to hang out.

Luckily some of the busy-ness we are involved in is going to weddings and the surrounding parties, so we *will* get to hang out with some of our friends soon!

I have been slammed at my job for the past few weeks, but it’s finally lightening up again, so hopefully I can play catch-up with all the people who have fallen off the radar.

Sometimes I don’t mind having to be the one to always reach out first, especially for people who return the favor (*muah* MA!), but sometimes, it gets old.

Sometimes, I just don’t feel like bothering.

Especially when I only get a lukewarm response.

And then there becomes a tipping point where I realize, If I never initiate contact again, I will never hear from this person again. And then I think, Will I really be missing that much?

Hard to say. But, inevitably I’ll have a sentimental moment and send a long email bemoaning our mutual silence, and balance will be restored. But I think I’m getting to the point where that won’t be happening as much any more. It’s just not worth it.

Happily, one of the things I’m busy with – volunteering – actually makes it easier to see some friends who have been MIA for a while, since I volunteer in Chantilly on Saturdays, and they are usually in Chantilly on Saturdays, so they stopped by to visit last time. That was great! And hopefully we finally *will* get together for a dinner party one of these days.

When we’re not too busy.

…16 more to go. Here’s Aaron’s Alpaca Parka, one ball’s worth at least. The pattern calls for 17 total. Those are size 5 needles, people. It’s not a quick knit.
