I have to pimp Aaron’s blog since I think he’s too cute:

The Ex-Pimp

Yesterday Aaron and I went out with IndyAndy and McHub to play 9 holes at Jefferson in Falls Church. We had way too much fun and actually played pretty well! It was so much fun playing with those guys and I really hope we do it again soon.

I was happy that I didn’t whiff at all. I had a few good chip shots that I was really happy about, and a few fairway shots that I liked. I didn’t tee off as well as I would have liked, at least aim-wise. I managed some good distance though.

Amanda did really well for her first time out too! She had some really good putts and an amazing chip shot that was just a beauty to watch. Michael had a gorgeous shot on a par three – landed right on the green not too far from the flag.

Aaron had a great day, especially for his first time out! I think the highlight of his day was hole 6. It was a 266 yard par 4. He went up with his 5 iron since he thought he could control it better than his driver. We convinced him to just use his driver anyway, since what better time than now to practice? So he lined it up and smacked the crap out of it!! He just about got it onto the green – it landed right inside the cart path line. Freaking amazing!

After the round we grabbed some (slow) food at Cheesecake Factory – man was that good! A great day of golf followed by a great dinner – good times. You couldn’t ask for a better Saturday!

I fell asleep in the car on the way home and then immediately passed out in bed once we got home. I had to ask Aaron to wake me up when he went to bed so I could brush my teeth. I guess the combo of golf and wine is a good sedative.

Cut to this morning when we (Aaron) decided it would be a good time to watch Saw 3. I told him I would only ever watch it in the daytime since movies like that give me nightmares – I can’t shake the visuals. We got through the first two scenes and turned it off. It was just way too gruesome and disturbing. Not for me. Blech.

We got our chair-and-a-half snuggler recliner on Friday. Perfectly sized for Buddy.

This is the Father’s Day present we got for Aaron’s dad.

Yesterday was a very good day indeed.

I sold one of my condos! The best part is, I didn’t even have to list it! The agent who sold it to me called me up and asked if I would consider selling it, oh, about a week before I was about to put it on the market. It all went very smoothly, the buyer paid cash (!) and now a HUGE weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

I swear I never had good fortune like this before I met Aaron.

And then, to cap the evening off we met up with Pixie and her husband for dinner at PF Changs. We had so much fun and I think laughed the entire time. As much as I love just meeting up with Pixie, I have to say we really, really enjoyed our ‘couple’ date. And I can’t wait for us to go out to dinner again!

We also made solid plans to go hit the links on Saturday and I’ll be booking that tee time tomorrow!

Ah, good times.

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy.

I miss you.

Rest in peace.

I’m glad Aaron likes to read what I write, but I swear I am not passive aggressively asking for things! I came home from work yesterday, and Aaron had sweetly gone to the grocery store for me since I was not in the mood to go. He texted me and told me he had gotten me a surprise.

I immediately suspected a new issue of In Touch was out. I was wrong.

I came home to a shiny new paperback novel – the latest James Rollins! Woo hoo!!!!

Ahhhhh I love a new novel to read! Thanks husband!

I’m sad because I am almost finished reading the last of my James Rollins novels. I love finding an author who is already established and has a ton of books published, so I don’t have to wait so long between publications.

My latest favorite is Laurie R. King, and unfortunately I’ve read all of her books. I’m not sure when her next one is coming out, but I’d read anything she wrote. Her prose is so succinct and beautiful. She creates amazing images with her words. And she weaves quite fantastic mysteries as well! I adore everything she’s ever written.

James Rollins is another good one – more on the adventure level than the beautiful prose level. I know he does have a new book coming out relatively soon, which is good because I just devoured the last book we have by him.

And of course, the final book in the Sword of Truth series comes out this year. I can’t wait for it, but it’s bittersweet since it’s the end of the series. I think I can re-read all of them again and love them just as much, though. MaD, I know you feel me on this one!

Now I’m on the hunt for another prolific, magnificent author.

I love my new nickname given to me by my new friend – she calls me ‘Mims’. Not sure what it means, but I’m a nickname girl so I love it! I haven’t thought of a good one for her yet. I like Pixie since she’s so freaking cute and has adorable short hair. But I’m not sure if that’s a flattering name or not? To me it is. But I’m usually better at giving nicknames. Furious, Sour, Sugar Lips, CH, etc. Nicknames that just fit, unequivocally. Maybe something will come to me.

I was thinking about other nicknames I’ve had throughout the years. Mitch, Mitchell, Hooch, Hutch, CH, Goer, Shell, and then the private ones I won’t share. I think I liked Goer best because it was my rugby nickname and I earned it. I am definitely a goer. (I think that’s an English term but it’s sort of self-explanatory. The stories that earned me that name are decidedly not!).

I’m so proud of Aaron. Last night he went to an award dinner thrown by his company at Ruth’s Chris (spouses weren’t invited, booooo). His team at work received the most prestigious award his company gives, and I have to say, the plaque itself is incredibly impressive. It’s a large glass plaque engraved with his name in gold, framed in nice wood, and sitting on a marble base. I’ll try to take a picture later.

At the dinner, he ended up sitting next to the president of the company! It seems like he had some good chitchat with the prez, so I hope he follows up with an email – but networking is not his strong suit.

I’m super proud of him; he is so smart and does such great work, it’s nice that his company recognizes that and goes out of their way to reward their employees like this. I could tell it meant a lot to him too, by the grin on his face when he came home. Without leftovers, I might add! Double boo…..
