March 2006

So we leave for Mexico on Wednesday, yay!!!

My cousin is getting married in Puerto Vallarta on Friday and we’re staying a bit longer to make a decent vacation out of it. I can’t wait to be warm!

I’ve never been to Mexico before so it should be interesting. It will be nice to see some of my relatives again as well. And Aaron will get to meet even more of my family. At least he’ll enjoy their accents!

Pictures when we get back!

I used to keep all of my makeup in a toolbox, because, above all, I am a classy lady. Anyway I finally bought a nicer makeup case this weekend, so I gave my old toolbox to Aaron since he has tools lying EVERYWHERE. Granted, he has a huge, red, metal tool drawer thing – the kind they sell in Sears that guys drool over – but the tools seem to lie on top of this monstrosity (and I’ve checked, almost all of the drawers are empty) or all around the house.

Now, I tried to wipe the makeup residue out of the toolbox but not all of it came off. I was too tired to clean it any better, so I gave it to him as-is. He put a bunch of tools we had upstairs into it and took it into the garage.

I can just picture him using one of those now makeup-covered tools. He needs a hammer and ends up with glitter and blush all over his hands and the nail.

What, tools and glitter don’t mix?

FYI for all you lurkers out there, I can see you!

I capture your IP address when you visit my blog. I see your city, country, name of company or university you’re connecting through, what you googled in order to find me, etc….

Just, you know….so you know.

I was looking for some quotes to put in the wedding card for my cousin, and these were my favorites:

“You don’t marry someone you can live with. You marry the person you cannot live without.”
–Unknown

“Love is a friendship that has caught fire. It takes root, and grows, one day at a time. It is quiet understanding and mature acceptance of imperfection. It gives you strength and grows beyond you to bolster your beloved. You are warmed by his or her presense even when he or she is away. Miles do not separate you, but near or far, you know that he or she is yours and you can wait.”
–Unknown

“Love is something eternal . . . the aspect may change, but not the essense.”
–Vincent van Gogh

“To love a person is to learn the song that is in their heart, and to sing it to them when they have forgotten.”
–Unknown

“I love thee, I love but thee with a love that shall not die till the sun grows cold and the stars grow old . . . “
–Bayard Taylor

“When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.”
–Unknown

“Love is not blind – It sees more and not less. But because it sees more, it is willing to see less.”
–Will Moss

“Love isn’t blind, it just only sees what matters.”
–William Curry

“Love is a faith, and one faith leads to another.”
–Amiel

“Love is the enchanted dawn of every heart.”
–Lamartine

“A friend’s love says: If you ever need anything, I’ll be there. True Love says: You’ll never need anything, I’ll be there.”
–Jimi Hollemans

Love is more than a feeling, it’s a state of mind.”
–Lisa Grude

“Love in its truest form has not language or words, it just has a thousand and one actions we all wish we could describe.”
–Emery

“One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: that word is love.”
–Sophodes

“If you have it (love), you don’t need to have anything else. If you don’t have it, it doesn’t matter much what else you do have.”
–Sir James M. Barrie

“Somewhere there’s someone who dreams of your smile, and finds in your presense that life is worthwhile.”
–K. Blackburn

“Do not keep the alabaster boxes of your love and tenderness sealed up until your friends are dead. Fill their lives with sweetness. Speak approving, cheering words while their ears can hear them, and while their hearts can be thrilled and made happier by them.”
–George William Childs

I don’t know what I was thinking.

I can’t even say I wasn’t thinking, because it was a conscious decision.

I got dressed, and thought to myself, ‘I know what shoes I will wear with this outfit.’ I put on an appropriate pair of socks, went downstairs and put said shoes on. I left the house feeling fine, not thinking twice about my decision.

I got to Starbucks, started walking across the parking lot, and looked down at my feet. What the fuck was I wearing? I actually stopped walking, in shock at the shoes I had put on. Consciously decided to put on.

They are completely not the shoes I should be wearing with this outfit! What the hell was I thinking? They don’t go at all, they feel weird…

Not a good start to the day.

The funniest thing just happened.

I posted an ad on craigslist to sell Aaron’s massage chair. A lady in DC wanted to come look at it, and I figured she’d probably buy it since she was coming so far. I was expecting her and a friend to show up.

So the doorbell rings, and I open the door. In walk four loud, laughing black women. They seemed very excited to see the chair. But no one wants to sit in it, at first. Then one of them says, “Get out of the way, let me try it!” and she sits down. I turn it on for her.

“Oooh! It’s going all the way down my back. Good Lord! I need to have a cigarette after that!”

One of the other ladies then decides to try it. “Get up! Let me try!” and she sits on it and turns it on. Much moaning and laughing ensues. Then the third friend sits down and her eyes go wide. She whispers to one of them, “It’s going all the way *down there*!”

They were sold. They had more fun on that chair in 5 minutes than we had ever had on it. I mean with it. I started to think we might want to keep it….

Then one of them says, “Are you selling that tv? How about those speakers?” I ended up giving them a framed poster and my birdbath/candle holder thing as well.

I can almost see them trying to sit on it backwards. Well, they’ll have fun tonight!

Yes, he likes red.

So, snowboarding season is over, which is sad. But, it also means that it’s warm enough to go riding! I got to wear my new helmet, jacket and gloves and go for a ride with Aaron :-) So much fun!!

So I had a great weekend with Kim…we went to the spa and everything! It was so good to see her again. Just drinking Bad Ass Coffee and talking was so much fun. And of course the spa was wonderful! I think we should have gone to Carpool instead of Eleventh Lounge, because that place is SO loud, but oh well. Next time! We ate very well all weekend. Too well in fact, which means now I have to double up on my gym time this week!

Anyway, Thanks for coming to visit, Kim!!!
