on the needles

It took a few months but I finally finished my first shawl! (Rav Link) It was a birthday gift, and I don’t have a picture of anyone modeling it, but it blocked to a rectangle. I hope the detail comes out when it’s over shoulders like it does on a blocking mat. Without further ado:

I’ve finished some knitting projects recently. Here is Salina, which I finished just before France but decided not to take it.

I love it. It’s thin, and yet very warm. I’ve blocked the cuffs and like it much better now.

I also made this little sundress for Lila. Bad light in this picture, but it’s a mint green.

Here’s the adorable little model! I made the one year old size, and she’s 4 months. Room to grow!

Finally here is a lace scarf I made for Dee’s birthday…on the blocking mats.

I’ve got 6 more projects on the needles (or about to be cast on). Fall is so great for knitting!

It’s finally finished!

I just finished up this bag, a kit from KnitPicks, for my sister’s birthday. I hope she likes it.

I’m closing in on the finish of my Birds of a Feather shrug. It’s my first time doing a color chart, and I was a little too tight on the first sleeve, but hopefully the second sleeve will turn out a little better.

Here’s the first sleeve:

And the backside of it:

And here’s the first chart of the second sleeve:

The wool I chose is slightly thinner than what the design was written for, and I always knit a little small anyway, but as it stands I need to stop eating for about three months so my upper arms lose about 4″ in circumference so it will fit. I’m hoping the magic of blocking will fix some of that. Otherwise I may need to find a depressed teenager to give it to.

Part of my gift for Kelly was this baby kimono, made out of organic cotton yarn.

I have since sewn the zipper in, but now am wishing I had used one of those zippers that zips from the top and the bottom, since the cardigan is a little longer than I’d like.

I love my new stitch markers.

It’s not blocked yet, and I still need to sew in the zipper, but my cardigan is otherwise complete. I even crocheted the edging:
